I posted an ad on craigslist to look for writers in Argentina and Chile. I've gotten a good response so far although the people I really want to reach probably don't have web access.
In other news, the blog for the school in Kenya should begin shortly. My contact is back from a month long trip over there and he should send the letters from the kids soon.
When this site got started I always planned on getting 2 or 3 writers before we started to look for readers and advertisers. In a few weeks we'll be ready. I'm going to try to get a little buzz going from sites like kottke.org. If this site is going to succeed, it will do so by word of mouth.
I'm convinced the concept for this project is sound. It's kinda like watching one of those Sally Struthers commercials except that instead of calling in, you're encouraged to sit on your ass and do nothing. Just by reading you're helping. Once we get rolling it will be a great feeling to see those earnings go up on your favorite bloggers page, just because you're reading about their life.
As you've probably noticed we snagged our first writer recently. Her name is Michelle and she works for the Peace Corps in El Salvador. When not getting drenched by the rain, she's busy trying to get internet access for the people of Sonsonate. Enjoy!
